Dangerous Desires

October 6, 2016

"Dangerous Desires" is a my finished painting from the previous post. I had planned quite a few aspects of this painting but in the end I was happy that I let a few elements of this painting just happen a little more naturally. One area specifically is the elbow area. It didn't have much going on, and I didn't necessarily want it to be a focal point, but I wanted it to still be interesting. I am always such a controlled artist and like I have said before I sometimes over plan. I have been following the work of Dimitra Milan and she utilizes a very loose drippy, messy style often in her beautiful work. I have utilized this approach in many studies and fun little paintings but never in a larger painting so I decided to go for it and I was very pleased with the results. I hope to utilize this effect in more paintings because I find the balance of tight details and loose out of control drips to compliment each other well. I hope you like my new painting.
